Course Description

NCEA Level 3 Carpentry (3CAR) 

This course provides Industry Unit Standards in Carpentry at Level 3.  Students should take this course if they are interested in pursuing a career in Carpentry, Construction or other Trades.

This course builds on the skills and knowledge developed in Level 2. Students are required to produce and follow a site-specific safety plan.

Suitable course to lead into trades and apprenticeship pathways in the carpentry/construction industry.

Prior Learning & Prerequisites

If you have not taken Carpentry previously you will need to discuss Discretionary Entry with Mr Harris and the HoF Technology.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

There will be a cost associated with taking projects home. This will be determined on a project-by-project basis.

Pathway

Students can go on to consider apprenticeships in a variety of building and construction industries, such as, carpentry, brick and block-laying, joinery, painting and decorating and so on.
Students could go on to consider careers in construction management, quantity surveying, engineering and so on
