NCEA Level 1 English (1ENG)
NCEA Level 1 English provides a foundation qualification for students to develop their communication skills in writing and verbally, and their ability to understand and analyse a variety of texts.
Communication skills learned in NCEA Level 1 English are a life skill that will provide a solid foundation for all further education and career pathways, but especially for careers in marketing, research, consultancy, management, journalism, human resources and trades.
During NCEA Level 1 English, students will study a variety of written and visual texts to analyse the writer's purpose and the effects on audiences. They will gain an understanding of ideas within language contexts, study language features that enhance texts, and gain an understanding of the structure and organization of texts. In addition to being a valuable life skill, this course will help students engage with course material and articulate their ideas in all learning areas.
