Course Description

NCEA Level 3 Materials Technology (3MAT)
This course would suit students with an interest in materials technology. Students will need to complete both theory and practical work throughout the course of their project development.
Students will learn how to develop a technological brief for a given context, how to plan a project and manage their time and resources, the technological design process and practical skills associated with prototyping a technological outcome. Workshop health and safety and skills will also be included.
This course consists of Achievement Standards approved for University Entrance.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
There may be a cost associated with taking physical projects home. This will be determined on a project-by-project basis.
