Course Description

Why should students take this course?

Students will have a Physical Activity focus, linking their theory knowledge to their practical sessions.  Students will design,implement and evaluate an eight week training programme for themselves.

What curriculum skills will students learn in this course? 

The Level 3 Physical Education course provides learning experiences which promote the understanding of the need for a physically active and healthy lifestyle. These learning experiences should also develop the understanding and skills that underpin successful physical activity and encourage continued participation in the future. There is a high theory component to the course and you will be given opportunities to link this theory to real life and practical situations.

Important information

Students who want to gain a subject endorsement will also need to take this subject in Semester B.

Full set of PE mufti gear and sports shoes for each practical session.
Chromebook required per 2021 BYOD policy.

Credit Information

This course is eligible for subject endorsement, however, you will need to select both Semester A and B.

* Only students engaged in learning and achievement derived from Te Marautanga o Aotearoa are eligible to be awarded these subjects as part of the requirement for 14 credits in each of three subjects.

Internally Assessed Credits: 8 credits.


Selection of a course does not guarantee entry into the course. Courses may not run due to low numbers and timetable clashes may occur. In both of these situations, the student will be consulted about alternative courses during the Course Confirmation process.
