Level 2 English: Dystopia - Semester B

Are you interested in exploring the great unknown of a dystopian future? 

Students should take this course if you like exploring a dark and dystopic future. Is there such a thing as a perfect world? Do people need choices? How can one person’s utopia be another person's dystopia? Who controls you? Does fear create conformity? We will explore these questions through a range of visual and written texts. 

Standards listed below are subject to change and will be decided in collaboration with the students and their teacher at the beginning of the semester. Students will be offered 8-10 credits for this course. Students will also have the opportunity to take this course without an external exam if they choose. 

Students can take this course for both semesters. 

 


Pathway

L3 English - Semester A, L3 English - Semester B

Communication skills learned in English provide a solid foundation for all jobs and career pathways, but especially for careers in marketing, research, consultancy, journalism, management, human resources and trades. The dystopian theme will also spark interest for students looking at careers in conservation, law enforcement, politic and policy development.

Prior Learning & Prerequisites

A love of diving deep into dark futures and a willingness to work independently when required.


Credit Information

This course is eligible for subject endorsement, however, you will need to select both Semester A and B.
