Teacher in Charge: Mr S. Lunt
Level 2 Drama: La La Land
Drama at its core inspires the love of exploring imagination physically. Drama helps to create confident, adaptable team players. It enables creative thinking in all aspects of a student’s life at Kaipara and beyond.
At Level Two, Drama continues to develop and hone the skills students have been using in Level One Drama. It also continues to grow students confidence in performing.
Semester A focuses on the influences of theatre and how it can inspire students own original drama. If you continue in Semester B, you will continue to use these skills and learn to perform more sustained and in-depth characterisation.
Semester A standards taught:
Achievement Standard 2.4 - Use complex performance skills associated with a drama or theatre form or period.
Students demonstrate knowledge of 'Theatre of the Oppressed' through dramatic scenes. This will stimulate discussion and positively influence their devising project next term. Students can explore how differing theatre forms can shape their own creative theatre pieces.
Achievement Standard 2.2 - Devise and perform a drama to realise an intention.
Students will use discoveries from the theatre form standard to structure an original drama using a poem or short story as stimulus.
There is also the option to write and/or direct a scene.
To gain a Merit or Excellence course endorsement in this subject, you will need to take it for both semesters.
L2 Drama - Semester B, L3 Drama - Semester A, L3 Drama - Semester B
There are a wide variety of career pathways related to Drama and performance. The confidence, public speaking and creative thinking skills will help students with any future pathway.
Prior Learning & PrerequisitesIt is recommended students have taken level one Drama and/or have experience in performing extra curricular.
This course is eligible for subject endorsement, however, you will need to select both Semester A and B.
