L2 Business Innovation - Be the next NADIA LIM or MALCOLM RANDS Entrepreneur - Semester A
This course is offered in Semester A and B - Students who wish to gain a course endorsment should take both semesters.
Why take Business Innovation?
Students who are interested in planning and making an upcycled product in teams should consider taking this course. Practical students who are already taking a technology subject or students who already have a hobby that can be turned into cash! This course is built around teamwork, by sharing the workload, all students will benefit from the experience of running a small business. You will be selling your product at school and at local markets. Report writing is an essential skill for this course.
Learning Objective 7.1
Students will gain knowledge, skills and experience to: explore how and why large businesses in New Zealand make operational decisions in response to internal and external factors.
What is Business Innovation about?
The study of business Innovation is about how individuals and groups of people organise, plan, and act to create and develop goods and services to satisfy customers.
Business is influenced by and impacts on the cultural, ethical, environmental, political, and economic conditions of the day. Issues such as sustainability, citizenship, enterprise, and globalisation are central to both business and the study of business.
The knowledge and skills gained in business studies, and exposure to enterprise culture, can help shape “creative, energetic, and enterprising” young people (the curriculum vision statement) who will contribute to New Zealand’s economic future.

This assessment will be completed as a team (or individual if requested) and covers three parts -1 planning/writing, 2 making/selling and 3 reviewing/planning.
Previous successful products include: upcycled pallet clocks, wheat bags, crystal soap, tyre swings.
