Course Description

Ākonga should take this course if they are interested in using digital tools such as spreadsheets, XERO, and Gantt charts to prepare and process business information. Every business and organization needs people who can process data, analyze the results and make recommendations.  You will learn how to use these practical business tools and apply them to different case studies. Ākonga who enjoy problem-solving, are digitally savvy, and are critical thinkers should apply for this course. Report writing is an essential skill for this course. Laptops/Chromebooks are also an essential tool for this course.

Curriculum Objectives:

Accounting Learning Objective 7.2. Ākonga  will gain knowledge, skills and experience to:  make use of appropriate communication tools and skills to process, report, and interpret information for individuals, whānau, and local or small businesses including community and iwi organisations.

Level 2 Business equips ākonga with the knowledge and skills to continue into NCEA Level 3 Business.  The course includes accounting, business and agri-business standards which give ākonga a taste of the financial activities a business would be involved with. The study of Business provides students with a both the theory and practical experience needed  to succeed in a variety of careers in such areas as small business owners, banking, government policy, economics, iwi financial advisors, marketing,  human resources, accountant.
