Course Description

NCEA Level 2 Materials Technology (2MAT)
This project-based course allows you to plan, design and develop an outcome to address a brief. You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of different materials, including wood, metal and textiles.
Students will learn how to develop a technological brief for a given context, how to plan a project and manage their time and resources, the technological design process and practical skills associated with prototyping a technological outcome. Workshop health and safety and skills will also be included.
Leads on to Materials Technology at L3. Engineering, fabrication, upholstery, trades pathways.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
There may be a cost associated with taking physical projects home. This will be determined on a project-by-project basis.
