L3 Te Reo Māori - Semester B

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Ms B. Te Paa

Level 3 Te Reo Māori - Semester B

The focus of this course is to support you to learn te reo Māori through immersion so that you can reach an increased level of fluency. This course is aimed at Level 8 of the Curriculum. By the end of this course, students can take part in general conversation with speakers of te reo Māori, understand most of what is said, and contribute relevant comments. They can explain and discuss many of their own ideas and opinions and may use te reo Māori creatively. They can read a variety of authentic te reo Māori materials and write expressively for a range of purposes. Students use a range of strategies to help them learn te reo Māori effectively, and they demonstrate a high level of fluency for a learner of te reo Māori as a second language.

The focus of this course is fluency in te reo Māori, however, students who wish to pursue NCEA Level 3 te reo Māori may do so. Students and their whānau are encouraged to discuss this course with Whaea Bri Te Paa prior to selection.

All students will complete A.S. 91650 v2 Te Reo Maori 3.1 (6 credits) - Whakarongo kia mohio ki te reo Maori o te ao whanui. The other standards listed below are available to students who are pursuing the NCEA Level 3 te reo Māori pathway.

This is not a UE Approved subject UNLESS the student is pursuing the NCEA Level 3 te reo Māori pathway. Students on this pathway must take the subject for both semesters.
