L3 Music - Semester B

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr G. McLarin

Level 3 Music - Straight Outta Helensville

At Level 3, you will be creating music that expresses your thoughts, dreams and observations, and continuing to develop your musical voice by taking inspiration from your surroundings. By learning and demonstrating practical skills in music creation, performance, and research, you will obtain an understanding of music as a function of society, and the impact this can have on yourself and the wider world. Successful study in music requires passion, commitment and self-motivation, which are not only the skills required to follow a career in the Performing Arts, but skills that will serve you well in all aspects of life.

Term Three will be spent on both your solo performances (should you choose to do them), and a Music research project based around any aspect of music you want. If you are doing Semester A as well, then you can use this time to add to any work left over from your Songwriting Assessment.

Term Four is spent finishing off the work started in Term Three as well as finishing our year off with the annual Music, Art & Drama (the MAD Awards).

N.B. If you are wanting to use Music as a UE subject, then you MUST take both Semester A and Semester B.
