L3 Music - Semester A
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr G. McLarin
Level 3 Music - Straight Outta Helensville
At Level 3 you will be creating music that expresses your thoughts, dreams and observations, and continuing to develop your musical voice by taking inspiration from your surroundings. By learning and demonstrating practical skills in music creation, performance, and research, you will obtain an understanding of music as a function of society, and the impact this can have on yourself and the wider world. Successful study in music requires passion, commitment and self-motivation, which are not only the skills required to follow a career in the Performing Arts, but skills that will serve you well in all aspects of life.
N.B. If you are wanting to use Music as a UE subject, then you MUST take both Semester A and Semester B.
First the focus will be on song writing and developing performance skills as a group. This is all work that is preparing us for the competitions that we enter during Term Two.
Next, we put all of our work into practice. We perform at Rockquest early in the term, and then move to recording and entering our songs into Play it Strange. As well as this, there will be in school performances, and the chance to perform in the school production.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
Access to an instrument at home is a great bonus for this course. While you can do it without, you will make even more progress if you can continue your practice out of the classroom environment.
