Level 3 English - Semester A

Pick your literary poison!

This course is the Mount Everest of Kaipara College English courses - you have prepared for four and a half years to take your final semester of English at high school! This course is all about ‘literature’. What exactly is  ‘literature’? Who decides what is and what is not literature? What does it teach us and why are there so many university courses dedicated to it? This semester is about preparing students for university-style English study which is beneficial whether the plan is a degree in English or some other major. If you are passionate about English, it will also be helpful to build robust communication skills for students, no matter what your tertiary plans are. 

Standards listed below are subject to change and will be decided in collaboration with the students and their teacher at the beginning of the semester. Students will be offered 8-10 credits for this course. 

English is a UE Approved subject. In order to gain 14 credits, students will need to take both Semesters One and Two.

This course is eligible for subject endorsement, however, you will need to select both Semester A and B.

This course is approved for University Entrance however, you will need to select both Semester A and B.

At least 14 Achieved credits are required in an approved subject for the subject to count as an approved University Entrance subject. You will need to take both Semesters at Level 3 to earn 14 credits as each semester usually offers 8-10 credits.
