L2 Carpentry

Course Description

NCEA Level 3 Carpentry 

Students will gain knowledge and skills in Carpentry and and gain an industry/trade qualification.

This course provides Industry Unit Standards in Carpentry at Level 2. The Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation has developed these unit standards.  This course builds on the skills and knowledge developed in Level 1 Materials.  Students are instructed in the correct and safe use of a range of portable power tools, such as, jigsaw, router, and the portable power saw.  Students construct an item of timber garden furniture.

Students can go on to consider apprenticeships in a variety of building and construction industries, such as, carpentry, brick and blocklaying, joinery, painting and decorating and so on.


Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

There will be a cost associated with taking projects home. This will be determined on a project-by-project basis.

Students can go on to consider apprenticeships in a variety of building and construction industries, such as, carpentry, brick and block-laying, joinery, painting and decorating and so on.
Students could go on to consider careers in construction management, quantity surveying, engineering and so on
