Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr G. McLarin

Level 1 Music - Play That Funky Music

Level 1 Performance Music is a practical course based around group work and songwriting. You will be writing and performing songs for a performance at the annual RockQuest event, as well as entering song in the Play it Strange competition.

By learning and demonstrating practical skills in music creation, performance, and research, you will develop a deeper connection and understanding of the music you listen to, as well as how it functions within your own context. Study in music requires passion, commitment and self-motivation, which are not only the skills required to follow a career in the Performing Arts, but skills that will serve you well in all aspects of life.

We put all of our work into practice. We perform at Rockquest early in the term, and then move to recording and entering our songs into Play it Strange.

Students will select 18-20 credits from the standards below.
