Level 1 Digital Technologies: iProject - Semester B

Course Overview

Learning and assessment will be project-based, against a combination of the standards below.  A suitable project (including selection of standards) will be determined in consultation with each student, and their mentor.

Why should students take this course?

This course is designed for students who have an interest in any of the various aspects of digital technology, such as data, coding or animation.

What curriculum skills will students learn in this course?

The student-led, project-based nature of this course means students will be developing their key competencies, with particular focus on self-management and problem solving.  The scope for choice within the standards offered means students will be able to develop digital technology skills relevant to their interests.

Assessment Options


Students in Semester B only:

Students will complete a single project, to be assessed against multiple standards.

All students will be assessed against both AS91877 and AS91878.

Based on the nature of their project, students will also be assessed against one of AS91879, AS91880, AS91881, AS91882, AS91883.

Options of Unit Standard-based assessment may also be available, based on individual student need.


Students from Semester A:

Students who select both the semester A and B courses will complete a larger project over the whole year, which will be assessed against additional standard(s), including AS91884.

Two external assessments may also be offered on an individual basis in negotiation with the student, teacher and whanau.



Prior Learning & Prerequisites

None - though prior experience with Technology subjects (and Digital Technology in particular) will be taken into account when determining a suitable project/combination of standards.
